Sharon Gray - 2006 Golden Opportunity Scholar

Sharon Gray PictureCurrent activities
I am currently in my second year of the PhD program in the department of Plant Biology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I am studying the interactive effects of elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and drought on soybean physiology.

Future activities
I plan to continue in plant physiology research, perhaps as a professor at a research institution, studying the effects of climate change on the physiology and yield of crop species.
Impact of GO program
The GO Scholars Program really inspired me to continue in crop science research, specifically because it allowed me to meet some really motivated and accomplished researchers like Jeff Sachs and Pedro Sanchez and others and to hear them talk about international development projects and the importance of keeping young students in crop science.
