Katherine Frels is a student in the Agronomy Department at Iowa State University. She is majoring in agronomy with a plant breeding and biotechnology option. Katherine is a junior and plans on graduating in May 2011.
Her study focuses on crop science and plant breeding in preparation for graduate work and research in plant breeding. She has done internships with AgReliant Genetics working with corn breeders and with the Iowa State Plant Pathology Department monitoring a sentinel plot for Asian Soybean Rust.
Katherine has served as secretary of her local SASES chapter, in addition to serving on several committees. She is also a member of the Alpha Zeta Wilson Chapter and Gamma Sigma Delta.
Katherine plans on attending graduate school in plant breeding. Her goal is to become involved in research and development at a major seed company or university.
