Heather Taylor is a senior in the Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences Department at Virginia Tech. She is double majoring in agro-ecology and philosophy and expects to graduate in May 2011. She plans on staying at Virginia Tech to attend graduate school for environmentally restorative crop management systems.
Heather has been a member of her local SASES chapter since 2006 and is currently president of the VT Soil Judging Team. She has also assisted with several ongoing research projects in soybean breeding and genetics at Virginia Tech. After graduate school she would like to begin a career as a crop consultant, and she hopes to one day return to school as an education major in order to teach agriculture to elementary school students.
In addition to her role as a student, Heather has grown roots in the Blacksburg community and now considers herself to be a local. She and her husband, a VT alumnus, are proud parents and find joy in raising their toddler to be a future Hokie.
