Garth Wilson Duncan - 2013 Golden Opportunity Scholar

Garth Duncan is a senior at the University of Missouri-Columbia and is majoring in Plant Sciences with an emphasis in Crop Management. Garth will finish his undergraduate in December 2013. On campus, Garth works for Dr. Anne McKendry and the Wheat Breeding and Genetics Lab. He has spent the last two summers interning with Syngenta. The first year, he worked with Syngenta Seeds, Inc. in Washington, IA helping that location with inbred seed corn and soybean seed production. This past summer, he worked with Syngenta Crop Protection in Ames, IA with the product evaluation team, looking at future chemical products. Garth has been very active on the MU campus, being involved in many clubs and organizations, including the University of Missouri Agronomy Club, where he is currently serving as Club President. Garth plans on attending graduate school studying Weed Science. His career goal is to work as a research scientist, evaluating new products for chemical and seed companies.
